Salted Egg Yolk Pastry

Snack Rodeo:

The pastry is a bit processed (vs flaky) and the filing is unmemorable, but the egg yolk is there. Wouldn’t be my first choice.

Description

Salted egg yolk pastry is one of the most beloved Chinese desserts.
It’s made by encasing an umami-flavored salted egg yolk with sweet lotus or red bean paste wrapped in flaky layered pastry crust.
This pastry is particularly popular during the Mid-Autumn Festival and Chinese New Year.
It’s believed that eating it will bring good luck as the shape of the yolk resembles the moon when cut in half,
and the word “yolk” (黄) has the same sound as “gold” in Chinese.
Enjoy a delightful sweet and savory taste in one bite.

Four Star Review

It is dry, and the egg yolk is very small, about one-third of the ordinary one. The advantage is that the raw materials are not flawed and not too sweet. The three of the 7.99 mini are not worth it, and it seems that the size has shrunk from two years ago. It can only be said that it is not difficult to eat.
